Flusso-what?

Hi gang!

My Alfa6 has 6 carbs, and they are in need of revision, since some
stupid PO found it neccesary to clog some of the "main jet to venturi"
passages with something that looks like clay (so the airfilter-housing
struts wouldn’t fall out)
Now I know why she runs poorly :(

After reading a bit in the manual, the chapters concering the
dis-/reassembly of the carbs, I got to the next chapter… "Tuning".
One section of it reads:
"Attach flussometer with 0.8 mil jet and adjust idle-setting until
‘D-scale’ reads 90. Than assemble one bank of carbs and adjust
CO-setting screw until ‘D-scale’ reads 100."

Can someone please tell me what the heck a "flussometer" is?

90 what? 100 what?
From the text, I deduced it’s a device used to measure air-flow, but am
not sure what flow where…

Do I really need it, i.e. are there alternative methods?
If yes, is this thing "buyable"? Then, where/how much?

Or should I resign this time and take my car to a "professional" tuner.
(I’d hate this, since I prefer to do all work myself, even carb
adjustment…)

I can get hold of a mercurycolumn(sp?) and CO% meter, but a flussometer?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure if it just a flow meter, but if it is, it shouldn’t be
horribly expensive.  Biggest problem may be finding one that will
compare a triple bank at the same time……
IIRC I was quoted about 40GBP for a single flowmeter, but I don’t
think this is the same at all.  This sounds more like a CO meter, or
something, as glow meters are really only used (again unless someone
can explain otherwise) to balance carbs together (ie make sure they
are drawing the same volume of air)

Best of luck, and when you’ve done it, can you come and do mine? :)
