To my dismay, I noticed in the final stages of Fifth Gear last night that
VBH and Tiff are planning to crash a lorry into a 164 in next weeks show.
What has showbiz come to?

I had to drive to Oxfordshire on Saturday and decided to go cross country.
This took me along the Broadway bypass in the Cotswolds, which is ideal 147
territory. The road ascends a steep hill (known as Fish Hill, I believe)
and features two lanes, both of which were empty, and two hairpins.
It’s a great piece of road, and I recommend it if you’re in the area. Find
an excuse to make a detour!
The best bit was watching a Golf attempting to enjoy the same bit of road.
I had great fun watching him drop behind in my rear view mirror!

I have a (2001)156 sw selespeed which I purchased before lurking this
group. A lot has been said about the reliability of selespeed so my
question is this: How many miles/kilometers have people driven before
problems occur. By problems I mean actuator problems rather than the
well known software problem (Pulling off at a junction in 2nd only to
get lots of revs and no power).
It would be good to see if we could get pattern for failure!
I have done 26,000 Miles without problems (DOH – thats torn that
then)!!
Or has anyone driven hundreds of thousands WITHOUT problems ?

Try this:
Go to:
http://www.topgear.com/content/my_topgear/duffers/A0/C3/16/
scroll down and count the number of linked articles (i.e. dodgy 147s).
Then go to:
http://www.topgear.com/content/my_topgear/duffers/E8/A1/49/
scroll down and count the number of linked articles again (dodgy Golfs).
I had to smile
For those who want to save a few minutes, there are 15 stories about problem
147s compared with 49 stories about problem Golfs.

And another MOT passed
Katie has just returned from taking her 33 for it’s annual inspection.
And it passed first time
We are both very happy bunnies this evening……
On the downside, she got the following advisories:
1. Corrosion on nearside front and middle floorpan
(I’ll get out my aerosol of Waxoyl next week)
2. Corrosion to fuel tank
(As above)
3. Strut pan bearings stiff
(I think this is a compulsory point for all elderly 33s……)
4. Front brake pads _very_ low.
(This one’s a bit urgent, I reckon)
So, not really all that bad for a 13 year old 33. The body _still_ isn’t
showing any real areas of corrosion, which is nice.
Looked at the floor, and it’s nothing I’d be worried about – just a bit
of surface corrosion where the underseal has fallen / been scraped off,
and the fuel tank is pretty much the same. A good coat of Waxoyl will
see it sound for another 12 months at least.
As an aside…… the round, punched holes in the footwells seem to have
lost their bungs…… any idea where I’d get replacements from?
Cheers,
–

Hi all,
Before I start my search for the cause of this problem, maybe someone can
help me right away.
In one way or another my 75 gets water in the trunk (only at the right
corner). I can’t immediately see where it comes from (no holes or easy to
see entrances for water). Are there any specific places or things to look
for? As the car needs to stay outside (Spider sleeps indoors) this problem
needs to be solved as quickly as possible at this time of the year.
Any tips or tricks greatly appreciated.
Ciao,
Peter
