Hi,

I’m looking at a 164 3.0 V6 with 138,000kms on it. It’s ex-Singapore
and seems in pretty good condition, but there are a couple of things
I’m wondering about:

- There is a fair bit of hissing from the power steering, and
assistance seems a bit erratic. Is this terminal, or is it simply a
case of a reconditioned pump?
– There is some tappet noise at idle, although it improves under load
and when things warm up. I suspect it hasn’t had a major service in a
while, but I’m a bit worried that it’s head wear – are the tappets
adjustable, or are they hydraulic and therefore worn?
– The top engine mount is obviously worn and makes clicking noises as
the engine load changes. The current owner (who seems pretty straight)
says that it’s simply a case of changing the bushes. Is it really that
easy?

Any advice would be very gratefully received.

Hi guys. The weather today is beautiful and I can not wait for tomorrow to
go to the Alfa day. I need a part for my Alfa 164 Twin Spark, 1989, Left
hand drive. I need the front exhaust with the two flexes. Mine has a small
hole which makes it a wee bit annoying loistening to the sound. Anyone has
one that wants to sell and bring it along with them to the National Day? I

I want to buy a working R/H door mirror for a 1991 series 3 Alfa 33.  I need
a black plastic one (right hand drive, please) but if someone has a pair of
Alfa red ones I might be tempted.

Does anyone have one/any to sell?

I have a 156 and was thinking of a 156 GTA – its one of those 3 year PCP
polocies and is up next February. I actually prefer the 147 GTA as it might
be a bit ore affordable for me. Anyone know an approxiate release date for
the 147 GTA in the UK.

Hi, This is my first post. I have a 89 Milano 2.5 v6 with a newly non
functioning speedo and intermittent tach. Some nasty wiring under the dash
leads me to suspect a previous owners nightmare stereo install is causing a
short or bad connection. Can anyone help me with the circuits? Are diagrams
available any where?

Hi everyone,

I have a 164 2 liter twinspark. ’93. The problem is that the clutch pedal
squeeks rather loudly. I have tried to put some copergreass on and that
helped for about 2 days. Then it started again. I disassembled the pedal and
greassed everything up. Two days later it started again.

What am I doing wrong. Any help is very appreciated becaus it is driving me
nuts,

Hi guys. After a succesful day in the Alfa National Day, I could not locate
an fron exhaust for my Alfa 164, TS, LHD. The exhaust in this model is with
twin flexes leading to a box. I found however a newer models exhaust which
has two boxes (where my flexes are) learing to a flex (where my box is)!!.
Does anyone know if this fit in my car? If not does anyone know where I can
get one that fits in my car at reasonable money? They have quoted me £275 at
Kwik fit (only took it there to see how much they want and to actually see
that indeed there was a hole) Thanks a lot guys, Dimitris

Hmmm…

    Just a darn question, well you all know that if you drive to easy on
your V6, <3500rpm all the time that you sufficate and toxicate your engine,
and after good revving when warm, the V6 is as good as new next day, but
this week I’ve got one day that my V6 is a rocket and the other day he is as
last as ever (torqueless), somebody experienced this to ? and how do you fix
this ? I’ve heard that there was a lambda sond problem which could lead to
these situations…

Anybody got an idea ? only 65.000km on the counter, the car is from 1998.

Well a time ago I got all kind of rattles, but It was my left door which was
coming apart It was badly put together tnx to my dealer, it was repaired
due to a brake in.

But 2 weeks ago I cleaned my dash with a special produkt and my dash squeeks
as hell since, when temperatures rises above 18° or sun has shone whole day
on my car… —> is this where you have to break off the window to put some
silicone between it ?
