Clutch? how much? 145 2 litre Tspark

Hi, what a day I’ve had.

I lost the use of the gearbox on the A303. It became extremely hard to
get it out of gear and increasingly crunchy to get them back in until it
became impossible. All gears select fine when the engine is off and the
hydraulics seem to be functioning OK, getting good movement at the
clutch slave/lever bit.

I guess it’s the clutch that’s given up, anyone know how much it is for
a new one and if special tools are needed?

General Things (OT)

OK

This is a general statement.  If you *think* that this is aimed at you, then I
invite you to consider what I am saying.

I created this group so that like minded individuals could ‘meet’ and exchange
information on Alfas in general, technical information, dealer locations, good
and bad experiences and, above all, the love that we share for this marque

I do not (and never did) expect everyone to agree with me, or indeed like me,
or anyone else that chooses to post here.  This is an open forum, and open to
all, regardless of race, nationality, colour etc etc.

I would however ask, in the name of the true ‘cuore sportivo’ that poster, be
the regulars or newer, refrain form the kind of personal comments that have
become increasingly prevalent.  If the trend continues, then this will end up
as just another forum for net cliques to slag each other off.  I do not want to
see that happen, but if it does, I shall wash my hands of it.

Thank you for listening

Sportiva Evoluta

Dutch car magazine Autovisie newest edition (8 – 14.04.2002) features an
article about Alfa’s new future route.
Also some pictures which I scanned (see:
http://www.pbase.com/tas/sportiva_evoluta )

Some remarks:
– Article was made after interviews with "high brass"
– Consept name "Sportiva Evoluta" most likely to be presented at the Paris
autoshow later this year
– Rear wheel drive is not excluded(!!!) 4WD seems to be sure!!
– Alfa designers are quoted saying they can do it their way and the present
management is very open to their ideas
– Budgets are available
– Definately Alfa will be entering the top segment, so above the 166!!
– Same for a "super" GTV
– The present V6 is 20 years old; not much more to be won power wise unless
"turborized"; 350HP would easily de possible. Nevertheless "they" take a very
good look in the shelves of Maserati/Ferrari (for a V8)

Yeah well, I don’t want to talk about it.

Box from a 75TS, clutch also? (I don’t think it’s up to the increased
torque and will wear rather fast, or consider a stronger
pressure-group(sp?))
Beware of the different lengths of propshafts and half-shafts and different
sizes of giubos and flanges. (I once tried to mount a 2.0TS tranny in my 75
2.5v6, prop-shaft to short, dangit!)
I’m not sure but isn’t the propshaft joint at the bellhousing also
different in size, compared to the <= 2.0Litres?

Oh, and take pictures, yes?

156 under engine cover

The nuts in the body frame that secure the under engine cover gets loose and
does not hold the cover very well, so I removed the cover completely.

Is this a problem for the engine? And does anyone have an alternative
solution?

Also the original cover is quite near to the asphalte (only 8 cm. on my
lovered 156), so it gets damaged quite often by road bumps.

What would be the price of a new under engine cover?

156 Alarm

Does anyone have an alarm/remote locking that does not bleep when activated
but bleeps 10 times when deactivated?
Wondering if the alarm is faulty or another one has been fitted.

156 Battery

Folks

A friend of mine needed jump starting so I brought the 156 out.
The "red" (positive) part of the battery is covered by a plastic housing
containing fuses?
I couldn’t get the jumper cables round this plastic.
Anyone know how to get round this ?
