ATE MK II ABS brakes (Milano)

I wonder if anyone has experience with diapearing pressure.
In the car I’ve bought (Milano Verde ’89) ABS didn’t work and brake pump ran
every time I pressed the pedal.
After changing the pressure accumulator, ABS works, but pump runs quite
often (every 3-5 times I press brakes)
and after few hours (night), pressure drops below the alarm level – ABS and
BRAKE lamps flashes for a few seconds.
What’s wrong? Electrical pump or ABS pump?

The most unreliable 156?

In the last 2 years my 156 1.8TS has undergone the following
repairs/replacments…

New rear brake calipers (took 6 weeks to come from Italy)
New clutch
New engine management system
New alarm system
New (parts of) wiring loom
New under-engine sheild (…well if it didn’t bounce so much on those twisty
country lanes…)
New sidelight bulbs (both), one brake/tail light, petty perhaps, but I drove
a Renault Laguna for 3 years without changing any bulbs!
New hydraulic fluid pipework (came out last Thursday to a puddle of brown
liquid on the drive and no power steering)

It’s only done 37000 miles.  I was prepared for a few minor repairs, it is
an Alfa after all, but all this???

My most pressing problem at the moment is convincing the garage that the
revs drop erratically on hot idle, sometimes to the point of stalling the
engine.  They’ve had 3 attempts to cure this… the new engine management
system was their last stab in the dark, to no avail.  Anyone else
experienced this?  Did it get fixed?  HOW??

Despite all this, I still love driving the damn thing, best car I’ve ever
had!

Alfa 164 Right Indicator Won't work

I have recently purchased a 93 Alfa 164 Twinspark (newer model). When
I was viewing the car the right side direction indicator wouldn’t work
and you couldn’t hear any ticking at all from the relay, the left side
worked perfectly well. The dealer said that it would be the relay and
thus, replaced it and yes it did appear to instantly solve the
problem.

All of a sudden today, the right side indicator won’t work again.

Is this a known problem with Alfa 164′s? Will it be the relay that has
burnt out?? Do both the left-hand side indicator and right-hand side
share the same relay??

How should I go about troubleshooting this problem???

Any help will be very much appreciated!!

GTV Tyres

Hello,
Can anyone recommend a decent and reasonably priced tyre supplier in the
Bedfordshire area? Ideally they should also offer AROC discounts :)
I need to replace the two front tyres of my GTV and as I believe P7000 are
no longer available will be replacing all four, so some lucky garage gets
the deal :)

Also has anyone got any recommendations for replacement tyres, I don’t want
to spend the earth but do want a reasonable tyre, I’m currently considering
Michelins, but have heard of an un-badged "Pirelli" brand. Does anybody have
any experience of these?

Thanks in advance (I hope) :)

Mark

Alfa 164 TwinSpark Engine Rattle

My 93′ (newer shape) 164 Twinspark has developed a rattle in the
engine bay, upon further investigation it does appear to come from the
chain drive within the engine. The car has done 140000 miles and still
runs perfectly well besides.

In terms of economics its probably not worth renewing the chain, as
the bill will probably be greater than what the car is worth, but is
there anything else that could be causing the rattle -for example the
tension of the chain, does the chain have a hydraulic tensioner or is
it manually tensioned?

Could it be camshaft bearings that cause the rattle?

Is there anything I can do to prolong the life of the chain -i.e.
frequent oil changes??

Any help would be much appreciated

Side Blinker Shape 155

I noticed there are some different types of blinker light mounted on
different 155′s.

They are all located behind the front wheels, on the side.
There are the old straight ones (models 92-95?).
Then you got a bit organic shape. (On the newer ones 95-later?) Sometimes
white instead of orange.
And you got totaly round blinkers. (Like on my car 1995Q4)

My question is:
Is this the right way of keeping these cars apart? Because i lately saw a
155 with the round blinkers but i was unsure it was a q4.
So are there 155′s wich AREN’T Q4 but do have round blinkers?

If anybody knows the correct answer i would like to hear it.

Thanks in advance.

Jan.
