Engine warming question… Too cold!

Greetings Everyone:

My ’86 Spider is eternally cold… Will never heat past about 140. Even
when the weather is warmer.  This is okay, but all winter long (the
fifteen times I did drive it) the defrost air is cold, and no interior
heat at all.

Car had a new water pump 1 yr. ago; new thermostat in December; just
flushed the coolant system; the thermostat housing feels very hot, but my
temp gauge reads between 100 and 140, no matter what.  Any ideas about
what to try now????  Heater control valve (buried in there somewhere), the
temperature gauge sender (but why doesn’t the interior air heat up?) ?

Thanks, I just don’t know what to do,
CCD

Alfasud Oil Pressure

Hopefully a simple question…

What is "normal" oil pressure as displayed on the gauge of an Alfasud
1.5Ti/Sprint? I’ve read that acceptable pressure can be anywhere from 15 –
50 once the engine has warmed-up, dependant on whether the engine is at
"idle" or "fast revs" (Italian description from Alfa Romeo owners manual).
The gauge reads from 0-80.

What’s your experience at "idle" and "fast revs".

Don.

light ticking sound on 146 Junior

Hello People,

I own a red 146 Junior (1400 cc engine) for two years now. (got a
little over 13.000km on the meter)
I think it’s a great car, with a very good performance (especially for
such a small engine). The only problem I have with it is that I almost
constantly hear a soft ticking (rattling) sound coming from the front,
left under side of the car (when you’re seated inside the car). I’ve
found out the ticking stops when releasing the gas pedal. But I’m not
100% positive about that. I don’t have any other problems, and the
ticking-problem doesn’t seem to bring any negative side effects, it’s
just annoying.
Does anybody out there know what this problem can be?? Is it something
I should get looked after or can I simply ignore it??

I’m also very interested in websites related to the Alfa 146.
Unfortunately I haven’t found many of them so far. So, if anybody
knows a Alfa 146 website… please post it

Thank you very much

greetz,

Jorgen

Timing Belt in 33 16V

My ’92 1.7 16v has done 96,000km and I am pretty sure it is still on the
original timing belt. Is this something the avaerage home mechanic can
replace or is it best left to the experts? If anyone has done it I would
appreciate advice.

Many thanks,
Peter

Weird noise in 156 V6

Hello fellow Alfistos!

I’ve have a very annoying problem. Everytime it’s cold outside (below 4 C) I
can hear a quite loud and VERY disturbing noise coming from the front, left
side of the interior (?). Every time I drive over speedbumps I can hear a
rattling noise that sounds like glass against some loose metal part.

As soon as the car warms up the noise goes away.
A friend of mine who owned a FIAT told me it could be the fuelpump that
makes the noise when it’s cold, but I have my doubts because I can make the
sound go away by pushing hard on the front interior panel.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!

Best regards

Alfa 75

Hello everybody

Yesterday I bought my very first Alfa: a 1991 Alfa 75 1.8 IE. So far I
always had Lancia’s (Beta Coupé and Delta). One of my Beta Coupé’s I’m going
to keep next to the Alfa; the other one has to go. I bought the 75 because
I’ve always liked it, because it’s RWD and most importantly because it runs
on LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas).
However I don’t really know much about the car, so I have a few questions:

-where can I find the chassis number (It’s originally a Dutch car)
-are there any special things I should know about owning an Alfa 75?
-what are the car’s performance figures (hp, max speed, 0-100km/h)?

Thanx & Ciao,
Kevin

Spider speedometer sender not working?

Hi:

Recently, the speedometer and odometers in my 1983 Spider stopped
responding.  The Tach still works fine.

My workshop manual doesn’t help me find which is the signal cable
(though I think it’s grey (H)) or where the sensor is.

Does anyone have any debugging suggestions?

Thank you,
/m

Someone say 75 Spider ?

Go to alt.binaries.picturess.autos and look at:

Concept Cars – 1986 Alfa Romeo Vivace Spider

If that isn’t a 75/Milano Spider, I’ll eat a bug…
